Introduction
On 9th February, 1996, by Rajdhani No. 4460/15-7-1(231)/1995, the Regional Office of Board of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh was established at Ramnagar (Nainital) for the Uttarakhand region. The said Regional Office conducted the examinations for Garhwal and Kumaon divisions for the first time in the year 1999. Even after the formation of the state of Uttaranchal on 9th November, 2000, the board examinations for Kumaon and Garhwal divisions were conducted in the year 2001 by the then Regional Office of Board of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh at Ramnagar. In the state of Uttarakhand, by Rajdhani No. 400-2 (260) M.S.V./2001 dated 22nd September, 2001, the Uttaranchal Education Board was established. And the Council of Examinations was established in the year 2002. For the first time, the Council organised its own examinations with the help of the Secondary Education Council of Uttar Pradesh. On 22 April 2006, the Uttaranchal School Education Act 2006 (Act No. 8 of the year 2006) was promulgated and the Uttaranchal School Education Council was established. After this, the Uttarakhand School Education Council was constituted by Government Order No. 201/XXIV-5/2008, Dehradun, dated 11 December 2008.

No, a student applies for the council examination of Class 10 and 12 in the same subjects in which he has passed Class 9 and Class 11 respectively.
